The Friday SCS Lakers U14s kicked off their season with a victory, defeating the Phoenix Flames Westies Red 68-32 at home, securing a 1-0 record. The Lakers took charge of the game from the start and never let up, going into halftime with a 48-16 lead and easily winning in front of their home crowd.

The Lakers came out strong, with Austin Matthews scoring two points right away and Jack Evans hitting a three-pointer to give the team a 5-0 lead. Lans N then took control of the game, scoring regularly in the first half and putting together several scoring streaks that opened up the game. Late in the first half, the Lakers went on a 15-0 run that was led by Evans, Muse, Ralph Basilan, and Lans N. This made their lead 42-13.

Muse finished off a great half with two three-pointers in a row that gave the team a 32-point lead at the break.

Lans had a wonderful game, scoring 30 points on 14-25 shooting from the field, including a clutch three-pointer in the second half. Jack Evans helped a lot by scoring 16 points, hitting two of the 10 three-pointers, and always finding ways to help out in both halves. Muse was deadly from long range, scoring 14 points and making 50% of his three-point shots (2-4) and 67% of his shots overall.

The Lakers kept up their intensity and balanced attack in the second half. Blake Prunster took advantage of his chances and scored 4 points on 2-3 shooting. Austin Matthews added 2 points in the first game of the season. The team's depth was clear as several players helped them win, setting the stage for what should be a great season ahead.
